Bassinets are where the very first sleeps happen, and the mattress inside matters just as much as it does in a full-size cot — arguably more, given how new everything is. LoveNCare bassinet mattresses are firm, flat and breathable, cut to fit our bassinets and cradles snugly so there's no gap around the edge. What makes a bassinet mattress safe
The same principles as cot mattresses, scaled down: firm (it shouldn't hold the imprint of your hand), flat, and fitted with no more than a couple of centimetres' gap at any edge. Australian safe-sleep guidance from Red Nose applies to bassinets exactly as it does to cots, and our mattresses are built to the AS/NZS 8811.1 firmness test method. Never add a second mattress, folded blankets or padding underneath baby to soften the surface — firmness is the feature.
Getting the fit right
Bassinet bases vary far more than cots do, so measure yours before ordering — length, width, and whether the base is flat or curved for a cradle. Each mattress here lists its exact dimensions and the LoveNCare sleepers it's made for.
Thinking ahead
Most babies outgrow the bassinet somewhere between four and six months, or as soon as they can roll or push up. When that day comes, the cot collection and cot mattresses are the next chapter — same firm-and-snug rules, bigger bed. Until then, this small mattress does the biggest job in the house.
