Before the cot, there's the bassinet — the small, close-at-hand first bed for the season when your baby is never more than a few steps away. This collection gathers LoveNCare's bassinets and bedside sleepers: compact sleep spaces with firm flat mattresses and breathable sides, built for the room-sharing months that Australian safe-sleep guidance recommends. If you're searching for a bassinet in Australia, or weighing a bassinet against a bedside co-sleeper, both paths are here.
Bassinet or bedside sleeper?
A classic bassinet is a freestanding first bed — compact, often portable between rooms, easy to keep beside you. A bedside sleeper goes one step further, standing flush against your mattress with a lowered side so night feeds don't require getting up; explore the dedicated bedside sleeper collection for the details. Either way, the essentials are identical: a firm, flat, snug-fitting mattress, breathable sides, and a stable base.
Safe sleep in the early months
Red Nose guidance recommends baby sleeps in your room, on their own separate surface, for the first six to twelve months — exactly what these products exist for. Inside the bassinet: fitted sheet only, no pillows, toys or loose bedding, baby on their back from the very first sleep. Our sleepers are tested for stability, breathability and gap-safety beyond Australian requirements, with mattresses built to the AS/NZS 8811.1 firmness method.
Knowing when to move on
Rolling, pushing up, or simply outgrowing the space — usually around four to six months — means it's time for the cot collection. The bassinet season is short and unrepeatable; these are the beds built to hold it well.
