The considered guide

Chosen once, well.

The first months are easier when baby is an arm's length away — for feeds, for reassurance, for the two-second check that lets you fall back asleep. A bedside sleeper gives you exactly that: baby beside your bed, in their own separate sleep space, which is precisely what Australian safe-sleep guidance recommends. If you're searching for a bedside co-sleeper or bedside bassinet in Australia, this collection is that first bed done properly.

How a bedside sleeper works

The sleeper stands flush against your bed, its dropside lowered so you can reach in without getting up — but baby stays on their own firm, flat mattress with their own airspace. Height adjustment matters more than any other feature: the sleeper base must align with your mattress top, so check the range against your bed frame before buying. Secure attachment straps tether the sleeper to your bed base so no gap can open between them.

Safety in the room-sharing months

Red Nose guidance recommends room-sharing for the first six to twelve months, with baby on a separate sleep surface — a bedside sleeper is the purpose-built answer. The rules inside it are the familiar ones: firm snug mattress, fitted sheet only, no loose bedding or toys. Our sleepers are independently tested for stability, breathability and gap-safety beyond Australian requirements.

After the sleeper

Most babies graduate around six months, or when they roll or push up — the cot collection is the next chapter, and a properly fitted mattress from bassinet mattresses keeps this one safe until then. Close by night, independent by design: the best of both.
