Sleep doesn't stay home, and neither should a safe place to do it. A portable travel cot folds into a carry bag, sets up in minutes, and gives your baby the same firm, familiar sleep space at Nanna's house, the holiday rental, or the friend's place where dinner ran late. If you're searching for a travel cot or portacot in Australia, the two here are the ones we'd pack ourselves.
What makes a good travel cot
Setup speed, honestly — a cot that fights you at 8pm in someone's spare room isn't portable, it's punishment. Look for a fold that one adult can manage, a carry bag that fits a car boot alongside everything else, and mesh sides for airflow and for seeing bub settle. Weight matters if stairs or airports are in your future. Both our travel cots hit those marks without giving up the firm, flat base that sleep safety demands.
Travel cot safety
Portable cots sold in Australia must meet AS/NZS 2195, the mandatory standard for folding cots — ours are certified to it. Two rules do most of the safety work: always check every side is fully locked upright before use, and only ever use the thin, firm mattress supplied with the cot. Adding a padded mattress to make it "comfier" creates gaps and soft surfaces, which is exactly what safe sleep avoids.
Home base still matters
A travel cot is the away game; the cot collection is home. Families who travel often pair theirs with a compact option from the rockers and cradles collection for daytime settling. Fold, bag, boot — sleep sorted, wherever the weekend goes.
